Blondie Chaplin (full name: Terrence William “Blondie” Chaplin, born July 7, 1951) is a South African singer, guitarist, and songwriter from Durban.

Quick Bio

  • He started young in the band The Flames in the mid-to-late 1960s, which had regional success in South Africa.
  • Joined The Beach Boys in the early 1970s as a touring and recording member. He’s best known for his prominent lead vocals and guitar on the classic track “Sail On, Sailor” (from the 1973 album Holland).
  • Later worked extensively with The Rolling Stones (as an auxiliary/touring member for about 15 years), Brian Wilson, The Band, Bonnie Raitt, David Johansen, and many others.
  • Released solo albums, including Blondie Chaplin (1977) and Between Us (2006). He’s also been involved in more recent projects like The Tasty Kings.

He’s a versatile rock/blues/roots musician known for soulful vocals and energetic performances, with a career spanning decades alongside rock legends.
