KwaZulu-Natal Athletics (KZNA) president Steve Mkasi says he deeply regrets what happened when he was seen in a video of himself fighting with a runner, which has gone viral on social media.
“I deeply regret my actions, of finding myself in a situation that I could have avoided. I made a big mistake. I regret the way I behaved. This incident has nothing to do with KZNA, it is something that concerns me personally. This incident has ended up painting a bad picture of KZNA, which is bad. I would like to clarify that KZNA is not involved in this.
“I understand that as a leader, there must be a way for me to behave. I apologize to all the runners, the people of KwaZulu-Natal and all those involved,” said Mkasi.
He went on to say that he promised that the action that led to this will not happen again. He concluded that they met with the athlete, they exchanged water.
