- Scope & Campaign: Conducted between 20 and 26 July 2026 under the #RemoveSkorokoroCampaign, operations targeted high-risk public transport corridors across Johannesburg, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, and the Sedibeng District Municipality.
- Agencies Involved: Joint effort by the Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP), Gauteng Transport Inspectorate (GTI), and the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC).
- Arrests & Offences: 36 motorists were arrested for crimes including driving under the influence (DUI), reckless and negligent driving, fraud, cable theft, immigration violations, attempted bribery, and obstructing justice.
- Vehicles Impounded & Discontinued:
- 42 vehicles impounded in Laudium and Olievenhoutbosch (19 minibus taxis, 17 private vehicles, and 6 learner transport vehicles).
- 99 vehicles issued discontinuation notices and removed from the road due to major defects such as faulty brakes, worn tyres, defective headlights, and cracked windscreens.
- Licensing & Public Transport Violations: Officers found 34 minibus taxi drivers operating without valid driving licences and 53 operating without valid licence discs.
- Fines Issued: Included 874 electronic infringement notices via e-Force devices, 60 targeted traffic fines for overloading or lack of Professional Driving Permits (PrDP), and 41 J534 fines.
MEC for Roads and Transport Kedibone Diale-Tlabela reiterated that law enforcement will continue high-impact operations to improve road safety, while urging public transport operators to verify and collect their operating licences at TOLAB offices.
