A Malawian domestic worker is wanted for allegedly stealing cash and jewellery worth around R1 million from a house in Durban.
According to her employer, the woman is identified as Fatima Lawerence, who also calls herself Esther. She is said to be 25 years old and is travelling with her five-year-old daughter.
According to a report by Reaction South Africa (Rusa), the jewellery stolen included gold and Kruger coins. The jewellery is said to be of great value to the family as it has been passed down through the generations. The amount stolen is said to be R10 000.
Lawerence has reportedly worked for the employer for seven years. It is suspected that she may be trying to flee to her home country of Malawi. Rusa is appealing to anyone with information on Lawerence’s whereabouts to contact them on 086 1234 333.
