Arthur Zwane, head coach of AmaZulu FC (Usuthu), has praised the revival of football in KwaZulu-Natal after three clubs from the province — AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, and Durban City — secured spots in the Top 8 of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

  • AmaZulu finished strongly under Zwane (around 4th place in recent standings).
  • Golden Arrows and Durban City (Nedbank Cup champions) also made the cut.
  • This marks a strong collective performance from KZN teams, which historically have struggled for consistent representation at the top end of the table.

Zwane sees this as a sign that football in the province is “moving in the right direction.” It qualifies these teams for the MTN8 knockout competition next season (which features the top 8 from the league).

As a Durban local, this must feel good — especially with AmaZulu showing real progress under “10111” (Zwane’s nickname from his Kaizer Chiefs playing days). The province now has solid representation heading into the new campaign.

Are you an AmaZulu, Arrows, or Durban City supporter? What do you think about their chances in the MTN8?
